New Character Profiles + Less than 2 weeks left!!
6 months ago – Fri, Sep 19, 2025 at 10:19:22 AM

We made great progress since the start of the campaign — thank you to all of our early supporters!

We've been traveling this week for SPX and working on revamping the character profiles of our main characters, Nate and Izzy! We hope you enjoy a little peek into their personalities down below~ ^_^

There are only 11 days left of the campaign, and we'd really like to get to the finish line! We are 2 very new comic creators with one book under our book from earlier this year — we have a lot to learn and even more to offer, so please share and show your support in any way you're able! Every bit helps!

Meet Nate (he/him)

Birthday: Aug 24 (28 years old)
Favorite Color: Dusty Rose
Favorite Treat: Chashu Bao (pork buns)
Ideal Date: Movie night at home & chillin’ on the couch together

In the decade since getting his heart broken, Nate kept his mind off of things by getting a job (contract killing), redo-ing his whole wardrobe (transitioning), and picking up new hobbies (smoking).

While he didn’t intend for life to end up this way, at least it’s a stable paycheck and in no way reminds him of his failed romantic exploits (until now).

Meet Izzy (she/her)

Birthday: March 3 (28 years old)
Favorite Color: Blue
Favorite Treat: Cookies & Cream ice cream topped with peanut butter chips
Ideal Date: An amusement park — with thrill rides! She’ll never admit it, though…

Izzy has spend the last ten years adjusting to becoming an international conglomerate princess overnight due to her father’s business dealings.

Now back in the States, she plans to carve out her own piece of the empire, get her life back, and possible revisit old relationships she was forced to abandon.

Digital Tiers Bug Fix! 🐛
7 months ago – Fri, Sep 12, 2025 at 04:03:21 PM

For any backers who were trying to support us through one of the Digital only tiers and were unable to complete their pledge, please try it again now!

We originally had some excluded EU countries on those tiers out of extra caution, however, after reviewing new guidelines, we felt comfortable removing those restrictions.

To those affected, thank you for your patience! If you still run into issues, reach out through Backerkit support.

Over halfway there! + Cover ramblings
7 months ago – Wed, Sep 10, 2025 at 02:03:52 PM

Thank you all for a great first day -- we're already at 57% of our goal! 🎉 🎉 🎉

To celebrate, we wanted to talk a bit about ✨cover design✨, especially since, for those of you who have been following the project before launch, you may have noticed quite a change in the branding and cover design of the comic.

The original pitch for the comic was a "romantic comedy," so we designed the cover to have a light-hearted visual tone that emphasized the irony of the situation. However, as we were prepping for the launch of this campaign and were talking about the story with other people, we realized that the story itself was too dramatic to fit the cover and branding we had set up. In fact, there's an entire spread that was absolutely nowhere near the wheelhouse of "rom-com."

Once we realized we had to kill our darling, the cover got scrapped entirely and replaced with new art, new fonts, new everything — all within the last week before this campaign got launched!

So that's how we got here. Additional ramblings and early sketches of the cover design will be in our "Making Of" zine, which details every step of our creative process, from idea to script to final pages and designs. If that's your jam, be sure to grab a copy!
